About the Role
The Senior Specialist Software Engineer in Retirement Plan Services Technology will contribute to the development and maintenance of applications supporting Schwab’s retirement plan business. This role involves working in a collaborative, fast-paced environment with a focus on high-quality software delivery. The engineer will participate in the full software lifecycle, from design to deployment, testing, and support, ensuring reliable, production-ready applications.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain software applications for retirement plan administration.
- Participate in an agile team with developers, testers, product owners, and scrum masters.
- Collaborate to define system requirements and ensure solutions meet business objectives.
- Develop and execute automated tests for robust, scalable applications.
- Release applications to production environments on a regular schedule.
- Provide ongoing production support for applications requiring 99% uptime.
Required Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- 3-5 years of experience in .NET design and development.
- Expertise in object-oriented development, Microsoft SQL Server, SOAP, REST web services, and CI/CD.
- Strong experience in software development, testing, maintenance, and support.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) methodologies.
- Experience with Test Driven Development and automated testing design.
- Familiarity with the Atlassian suite of products (Confluence, JIRA, Bamboo).
- Knowledge of Cloud Platforms such as PCF, GCP, and AWS.
- Financial Services industry experience.
